Students are expected to maintain an overall cumulative grade point average of C (2.0 GPA) to be in Good Standing. Students whose cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 will be placed on Academic Warning. As part of our commitment to advising students, University Studies advisors work with students who are in academic warning status to determine a plan of action that will restore and help them maintain a 2.0 or higher G.P.A.  We want you to take full advantage of the resources available at UD and this will be an opportunity for you to develop your own academic success strategies and obtain tips and resources to help with future academic success. To learn more about your status, please review the academic standings FAQs here.

Students in the academic warning status should follow the guidelines below which are designed to aid them in achieving academic success.

  • Set up a meeting with your advisor.
    • Your advisor will discuss your status and help you prepare for a successful fall semester.
    • Students in academic warning must take fewer than 15 credits so you may need to adjust your schedule with your advisor.
  • Set up a meeting with your academic success coach.
    • Your success coach can help you develop your own academic success strategies and obtain tips and resources to help with future academic success.
  • Consider enrolling in UNIV 113: Study Skills, UNIV114: Critical Thinking, UNIV115: Problem Solving, or UNIV117: Exploring Your Academic Path.
    • These 1-credit, Pass/Fail courses can assist you in developing more effective strategies to be successful.
  • Prior to the next registration period, a “Registration Hold” will be on your record. To register, you must meet with a UST academic advisor who will then release the registration hold. This is to ensure that you receive advisement throughout the time you are on academic warning.
  • Check the Resources page for help with specific issues.
